Walter's Farm was established in 2020 in Volcano, Hawaii.
We are a multigenerational family homestead, named after 11-year-old Walter, who runs the farm alongside his parents, Mary and Josh, his grandparents, Christi and Fred, and his aunt, Cathy.
Our mission began with a desire to renew the emotional connection to our food, feeling as though we have strayed too far from the connection we should have with the land, the animals and one another.
Being good stewards of the land has become very meaningful. Otherwise, the land and the animals that graze upon it and thereafter what we harvest from them is diminished.
It’s a spiritual process for us as Christians. It’s a life cycle in the fullest sense for the animals we raise for meat. The quality of the meat is only as good as the care we provide and in doing that, we honor the abundance that the land provides and try to nourish it as it nourishes us.
